Obituary for:

Garry Ned Jarrett

( September 30, 1947 - June 2, 2018 )

Garry Ned Jarrett, age 70, of 921 Danbrook Circle, Lincolnton died Saturday, June 2, 2018.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 2858 E. Highway 150, Lincolnton, NC 28092 with Rev. Avery White officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at graveside.

Mr. Jarrett was born on September 30, 1947 and was the son of the late John Samuel Jarrett and Mary Miller Jarrett.  He was a 1966 graduate of Ashley High School in Gastonia and served in the United States Army being stationed in Korea.  In 2003 he retired from Daimler Freightliner as a supervisor.

Mr. Jarrett is survived by his son, Jonathan William Jarrett and wife, Carolyn of Dallas, NC; his twin brother, Larry Jarrett and wife, Shirley of Lincolnton and brother, John P. Jarrett and wife, Janice of Dallas, NC; two sisters, Deane Stokley of Gastonia and Sherry Threatt of Charlotte; his granddaugh ter, Leia Jarrett of Dallas, NC and two nieces, Michelle Jarrett  Herring of Weddington, NC and Amy Jarrett Moss of Gastonia.

William Gunter

We extend our sincere sympathy to our classmate, Becky Gunter Penley, at the death of her brother, William Horace Gunter.

GASTONIA - William Horace Gunter, 68, passed away May 25, 2018.

He was born June 18, 1949, in Gaston County, a son to the late Clyde F. Gunter and Rita Huggins Gunter.

William "Bill" proudly served our country in the US Army and served in Vietnam. After his service, he served as a police officer for the City of Gastonia for over eighteen years and retired as a County Sheriff's Deputy. Bill loved his family, his friends and his community. He enjoyed spending time with his animals, being in his yard and cooking. He also enjoyed his time working with his long-time good friend Flip Dow over the years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Princess Stinnett Gunter; step-daughters, Nicole Phongsa (Boone) of Kings Mountain and Kelly Harrill of Mt. Holly; brother, Don M. Gunter; sisters, Marilyn Harper (Buck), Becky Penley, Jan Clevenger (David); grandson, Wesley Roper of Kings Mountain; step-grandchildren, Matthew, Gavin and Gabriella Rimmer of Mount Holly, Hope, Madalyn, and Elyn Phongsa of Kings Mountain and great-grandchildren, Josiah, Liam and Korbin of Kings Mountain, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Dawn Gunter, brothers, Clyde F. Gunter, Jr. and Robert L. Gunter; sisters, Faye Bowen, Sylvia Gunter and Ira Gunter.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday June 1, 2018, at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia, Founders Chapel with Rev. Don Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Gaston County.

GASTONIA-Sharon Cecilia Jackson, 70, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Carolinas Medical Center, Main, Charlotte with her loving family by her side. 

She was born in Charlotte and was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Hazel Maxwell Jackson.

The family will receive friends from 7. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home.

The family will have a private burial at a later date.
